About the event

Students may join in-person, or virtually online, during the classroom times, but must be present for all skills practices, skills testing, clinicals, and exams.

Course Description:

The Emergency Medical Technician course meets the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) and the National Registry of EMT required for certification requirements. Upon successful completion of the EMT course, students will be eligible challenge the National Registry of EMT certification examination. This course includes all of the skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service or other specialized service. The clinical sessions are health-related, work-based learning experiences that help enable the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skill, and concepts. The course is a 15-week course that consists of 120 hours of classroom lectures and skills training that is complemented with an internship including 48 hours of practical experience aboard an ambulance and 24 hours of clinical experience in the emergency department in the hospital setting.
